Before you go: mixed bathing at these ryokan
Konyoku is a bath shared by men and women. It survives mostly at old mountain inns and hot-spring cure inns, usually alongside separate baths for men and women. The rules differ a lot from one inn to the next.
- Bathing wrap (yuami-gi) and towels
- Some inns require a bathing wrap or towel, some let you choose, and some do not allow any wrap, towel or swimsuit in the water. We show the rule only when the inn states it.
- Women-only hours and baths
- Many inns set aside hours when the mixed bath is for women only, or have a separate open-air bath just for women. The times often change with the season, so check at check-in.
Rules and opening seasons can change, and outdoor baths may close in bad weather or deep snow. Please confirm with the property before you book.
Stays in Akita
6 staysHow we know
- A stay is listed only when the property's official website or its page on a booking site says it has a mixed bath. Bathing-wrap rules, women-only hours and closures are shown only where that page says so. Every item links to its source and shows the date we checked it.
- Spring type, pH and how the water is used come from the onsen analysis report that Japanese law requires each facility to post, and from the facility's water-usage notice. They are shown only for stays whose report we have on file.
- Details can change after we check them. Please confirm with the property before you book, especially tattoo rules and private bath fees.
- Booking buttons are affiliate links. They do not affect which stays are listed.
