Akan Lakeside Onsen Hanayuka Source
Analysis UnverifiedAkanko Onsen spreads along the south shore of Lake Akan, home of the marimo moss balls, and is one of eastern Hokkaido's leading spa towns. This water is pumped from a well in the lakeside district that once also fed a public bathhouse for local residents. It is a mild simple spring, yet bicarbonate and metasilicic acid give it a smooth touch, and its clear water with a faint iron note gently loosens a body chilled by walks around the lake and forest.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Absorbed through the skin to gently promote peripheral circulation.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The source is 60.0°C and tub temperatures can differ, so test with a pour first and keep soaks in the hotter tub short. The neutral, low-irritation water suits a longer soak in the cooler tub.
Bicarbonate at 323.8 mg/kg is said to soften the skin's surface for a silky finish, and 237.1 mg/kg of metasilicic acid adds smoothness, making this neutral water a gentle place for deep relaxation.
The source is hot, so avoid long soaks if the bath feels too warm. Those in acute illness or with serious heart or respiratory conditions should refrain or consult a doctor; avoid bathing after drinking or eating.
