Asahidake Onsen (Takinoyu Spring)
Analysis UnverifiedAsahidake Onsen was discovered in 1914, in a valley the Ainu called Yukomanbetsu, "the river that flows toward the hot water." Hotel Bear Monte, three minutes on foot from the Asahidake Ropeway base station, opened in 2003 and was renewed in 2022. Its clear sulfate water, once classed as a gypsum spring, is known locally as the "healing waters" for its gentle feel, and the large baths offer tubs at different temperatures for resting after hiking or skiing.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Transdermal absorption gently supports skin hydration and muscle relaxation.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The baths have a milder tub around 40°C and a hotter one around 42°C; start in the milder tub, keep sauna and hot-tub sessions short, and dry off quickly afterward because mountain evenings are cold.
With 583.2 mg/kg sulfate and 193.1 mg/kg calcium, this sulfate water has long been called the "healing waters" and is associated with helping relieve pain, while 282.3 mg/kg chloride offers restorative warmth that lingers even in the cool mountain air.
As a high-altitude spa, take it easy right after arriving or after drinking alcohol, and beware of overheating from long soaks or sauna cycles and of getting chilled afterward.
