Dogo Onsen Dai-ni Bun'yujo
Analysis UnverifiedDogo Onsen appears in the ancient Iyo Fudoki and ranks among Japan's oldest hot springs. Its original natural spring has long dried up, so drilled wells are now blended at distribution stations. The Dai-ni Bun'yujo station on Kanmuriyama mixes waters of varying temperature and sends them to the heart of the spa town. The smooth alkaline water soothes the skin and leaves a gentle, lingering warmth, suiting travelers who want history and quiet rest.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
Mild antibacterial action keeps the skin clean. Trace transdermal absorption supports tooth and bone health.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
At pH 9.1 the alkaline water softens the skin, so gentle hand strokes are enough. The bath can feel slightly hot; pour water over yourself first and take a few short soaks.
With pH 9.1 and 49.8 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, this mild alkaline water is traditionally associated with silky skin, and its low mineral content makes it a fine choice for deep relaxation at day's end.
Avoid bathing during acute illness or with serious heart conditions. The bath runs around 42°C, so skip long soaks and bathing after drinking.
