Tengu no Yu
Analysis UnverifiedTengu no Yu gushes naturally in the mountain hollow of Doroyu Onsen, a spa said to have opened in the early Heian period. Its name comes from a legend: a sick maiden too shy to bathe in clear water was helped by a tengu who clouded the spring white, and she was healed after soaking in it. The Tengu no Yu source swirls with white mineral flakes and mud-like sediment, leaving the skin feeling soft and supple, a steeping place for anyone who loves cloudy, remote hot springs.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
The aroma typical of sulfur springs, with circulatory and antibacterial effects.
Absorbed through the skin to gently promote peripheral circulation.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The source exceeds 70°C and is cooled with added water, so temperatures vary between tubs; test with your hand first. Mud-like sediment settles on the bottom, so enter slowly to avoid stirring it up, and remove silver jewelry because of the sulfur.
This mildly acidic pH 3.7 sulfur spring has long been used for toji stays and is traditionally associated with immune system stimulation, while 62.5 mg/kg of metasilicic acid may support silky skin that feels smooth long after bathing.
Hydrogen sulfide gas occurs around Doroyu Onsen; never enter restricted areas, keep baths ventilated and take care near the scalding spouts.
