Hirugami Onsen Shin Kongosen
Analysis UnverifiedHirugami's waters famously burst forth in 1973 during railway tunnel construction. Wells No. 2 to 5 followed, and today their blended "new mixed spring" is centrally managed and piped to the inns of the valley. At pH 9.8 it is strongly alkaline, giving the skin a slippery, silky feel, with a faint sulfur scent and gentle sweetness.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
Mild antibacterial action keeps the skin clean. Trace transdermal absorption supports tooth and bone health.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
At pH 9.8 the water softens the skin's outer layer for a slippery feel. Since it also lifts natural oils, rinse lightly afterward and moisturize. Long, unhurried soaks around 40-41°C suit it best.
Strongly alkaline at pH 9.8 with 43.6 mg/kg of carbonate, the water softens old skin cells while its sodium-rich body leaves skin feeling silky. Lingering in the faintly sulfurous warmth may also invite deep relaxation.
Strong alkalinity can dry sensitive skin, so avoid very long soaks and moisturize after. Those in acute illness or with serious heart or respiratory conditions should refrain or consult a doctor; drink only where permitted, and avoid bathing after alcohol or meals.
