Beppu Kitahama Kongosen
Analysis UnverifiedBeppu Onsen, one of the eight hot spring districts of Beppu, is the historic heart of the city, with springs rising in the streets between the station and the sea. This water blends two wells drilled in seaside Kitahama in equal parts. Sea-born salt and bicarbonate dissolve in nearly equal measure, pairing lasting warmth with a smooth feel on the skin in a gentle, neutral, pale-yellow bath.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
Chloride keeps you warm long after bathing, so repeat shorter soaks around 41°C to avoid overheating. Bicarbonate leaves skin feeling clean, so moisturize afterward, and rinse only lightly to keep the warming salt film.
With 885 mg/kg of chloride forming a light salt film on the skin, the water offers restorative warmth that lingers, while 709 mg/kg of bicarbonate softens the skin for a silky skin finish.
This chloride spring warms quickly, so avoid long soaks and drink water often. Those in acute illness or with serious heart or respiratory conditions should refrain or consult a doctor, and avoid bathing after alcohol or meals.
