What is Chloride ion?
Chloride ion (Cl⁻) is the main component of chloride springs. Like sea salt, it forms a thin film on the skin trapping heat, earning the nickname "hot spring" (熱の湯).
Main Effects
- Outstanding heat retention after bathingThe chloride ions in the water form a thin saline film on your skin. This 'veil' of salt helps prevent the body's heat from dissipating after you leave the bath, which is why these springs are known for keeping you warm long after your soak.
- Indicated for poor circulation and peripheral vascular disordersThe warmth of the bath helps dilate peripheral blood vessels, and the salt film left on the skin helps sustain this improved blood flow for longer. This prolonged warming effect may help alleviate symptoms associated with a tendency to feel cold.
- Indicated for atrophic gastritis and constipation (drinking)When this type of spring water is consumed, the chloride can stimulate the secretion of gastric juices. This in turn may help activate digestive functions and promote intestinal peristalsis, potentially offering relief from these conditions.
