Kinoe Onsen
Analysis UnverifiedRising at Kinoe on Osakikamijima, an island reached only by ferry, this spring once served a public lodge loved by islanders and sea travelers. Saltier than seawater and rich in calcium with a trace of radon, it is a powerful water for those who want to warm themselves slowly while gazing over the scattered islands.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
Salinity comparable to seawater. The salt film traps heat for outstanding warmth ("hot bath spring").
Astringent action that tightens the skin and soothes flushing after bathing.
A rare radioactive spring where trace radiation absorbed via inhalation and skin is expected to stimulate cells (the "hormesis effect").
Easily absorbed through the skin, helping to relax muscle stiffness during bathing — a transdermal nutrient unique to hot springs.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
At 25.68 g/kg this chloride water is very strong, so take short, repeated soaks in the heated bath and rinse lightly before leaving to reduce stickiness.
With 15,200 mg/kg of chloride, the salt film helps hold in heat for restorative warmth, while 4,440 mg/kg of calcium and a trace of radon make it a spring associated with pain relief.
This very strong hypertonic water is heated, recirculated, filtered and disinfected. Avoid long soaks, and those with general contraindications should refrain.
