Naganuma Onsen
Analysis UnverifiedThis spring rose in 1985 from a 1,500 m well in Naganuma, a farming town at the eastern edge of the Ishikari Plain beneath the Umaoi Hills, and was designated a national health-resort hot spring in 1988. It is a hypertonic strong saline water with over 20 g/kg of dissolved minerals, including 11.2 mg/kg of iodide and 356.2 mg/kg of metaboric acid, with a sea-like salty taste. It suits anyone wanting to warm up to the core after a day in the fields or on the park-golf course.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
Undissociated boric acid with antibacterial action that keeps the skin surface clean.
Salinity comparable to seawater. The salt film traps heat for outstanding warmth ("hot bath spring").
Above 10 mg classifies the spring as an "iodine spring" — a rare type that delivers antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action through the skin.
Salt forms a thin film on the skin, retaining heat after bathing. Helps with poor circulation.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
With over 20 g/kg of dissolved salts, this water heats the body quickly, so take shorter soaks with breaks. The salt can leave skin sticky; those with sensitive skin may rinse lightly afterward.
With 12,010 mg/kg of chloride, a thin salt film is said to slow sweat evaporation, offering long-lasting restorative warmth, and this iodine-bearing strong saline water may help relieve pain in stiff, chilled bodies.
This hypertonic strong saline water can cause bathing fatigue, so avoid long soaks. Those in acute illness or with serious heart, kidney or blood-pressure conditions should refrain or consult a doctor; avoid bathing after drinking or eating.
