Namari Onsen Katsura-no-yu + Shimo-no-yu (mixed)
Analysis UnverifiedNamari Onsen, said to have opened some 600 years ago, is the single-inn spa of the Hanamaki Minami hot spring area. Legend tells of a white monkey bathing in water welling up at the foot of a katsura tree, remembered in the names of the Katsura-no-yu source and the naturally gushing Hakuen-no-yu rock bath. Fuji San Ryokan, founded in 1841, uses several sources bath by bath. This analysis covers a blend in which the cooler Shimo-no-yu is added to the hotter Katsura-no-yu to reach a comfortable temperature, feeding baths such as Shiraito-no-yu overlooking the Shiraito Falls. The weakly alkaline water feels smooth and invites deep relaxation to the sound of the river.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A rare radioactive spring where trace radiation absorbed via inhalation and skin is expected to stimulate cells (the "hormesis effect").
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
Each bath uses different sources and temperatures, and some are quite hot. Pour water over yourself first, check the temperature, and take several shorter soaks.
This mild pH 8.2 simple spring with 47.6 mg/kg metasilicic acid is gentle on the body, suiting days when you seek deep relaxation and silky skin.
The source is around 48°C and some baths exceed 44°C. One rock bath is deep and entered standing, so watch your footing and the temperature, and avoid overlong soaks.
