Namegawa Onsen Uenoyu Source
Analysis UnverifiedNamegawa Onsen, one of the eight hot springs of Yonezawa, is a mountain healing retreat in the Azuma range said to have opened in the Edo period with permission from the Uesugi domain. The Uenoyu source gushes beside the Maekawa stream, its bluish milky-white water carrying a gentle scent of sulfur. The water feels weighty and smooth, leaving the skin soft and light after bathing. Deep in the mountains, it suits those who want a quiet soak to the sound of the gorge.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
With the source at 53.6°C the baths run hot, so pour water over yourself first and repeat short soaks rather than one long one. The water contains sulfur, so remove silver jewelry before bathing.
A sulfur spring with 7.0 mg/kg hydrosulfide ion, this water is traditionally associated with immune system stimulation, while 428.1 mg/kg bicarbonate and 103.6 mg/kg metasilicic acid smooth the skin toward a silky skin finish, ideal for days when your skin feels dull or rough.
The water is hot, so avoid long soaks that can cause dizziness. Those with sensitive skin may rinse with fresh water afterwards. The area closes in winter, so check the operating season first.
