Yugawara Onsen Yugawara No.77
Analysis UnverifiedYugawara Onsen is an ancient spa sung of in the Man'yoshu poetry anthology, and Oku-Yugawara, its innermost reach, is a quiet retreat wrapped in the Fujiki River gorge and deep greenery. Yugawara No.77 is a private source here, a calcium sulfate spring once called a gypsum spring. Its main components are 939.0 mg/kg of sulfate and 398.0 mg/kg of calcium; the water is clear and mild in taste and smell, yet carries a faint toasty note typical of sulfate springs. Soft and weakly alkaline, it clings gently to the skin and has long been valued for soothing cuts and skin troubles, suiting bathers who want a calm soak amid the greenery.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
At 42.0°C the source is slightly hot, so pour water over yourself before entering. The hypotonic water is gentle, but sulfate springs keep you warm long after bathing; drink water often.
With 939.0 mg/kg of sulfate, this calcium sulfate spring has long been known as a water for wounds and is associated with relieving pain. Its soft, weakly alkaline water at pH 7.5 settles gently on the skin, supporting silky skin.
Avoid bathing during acute illness or with serious heart or respiratory conditions. The water is slightly hot, so keep soaks short, and do not bathe after alcohol or right after meals. Adjust bathing time to how you feel.
