Sakazuki Onsen Well No. 2
Analysis UnverifiedThe name Sakazuki is said to come from an Ainu word meaning ore. Hot water that welled up inside a wartime mine was piped around 1948 to an inn converted from a herring fishermen's lodge, the origin of Sakazuki Onsen. In 1962 wells were bored into the hot-water vein beneath the ore body: Well No. 1 at 221 m and Well No. 2 at 233 m. Well No. 2 is a gypsum-type spring led by sulfate with calcium and sodium, suited to anyone who wants a quiet, warming soak while gazing over the Sea of Japan and the fishing port.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
At 43.7°C the source is fairly hot, so pour water over yourself first. The weakly alkaline pH 7.6 feels gentle, and the sulfate water keeps you warm; guard against chill on windy seaside days.
With 822.9 mg/kg of sulfate and 193.3 mg/kg of calcium, this sulfate spring is traditionally associated with pain relief for stiff muscles, and a slow soak may support balneotherapy-style recovery.
Avoid bathing during acute illness or with serious heart or kidney conditions. Mind the fairly hot water, and do not bathe right after drinking alcohol or eating.
