Toyotomi Onsen Hot Spring Water Tank (Mixed Wells R-1A, R-4, R-8, R-9, R-10)
Analysis UnverifiedToyotomi Onsen began in 1926, when hot water burst out with natural gas during oil exploration. A 2020 analysis of the mixed water from five wells recorded 34.2°C and pH 7.5, with sodium 4432 mg/kg, chloride 5952 mg/kg, bicarbonate 2136 mg/kg, iodide 16.1 mg/kg and metaboric acid 494.6 mg/kg, for 13.32 g/kg of dissolved solids. Pale yellow, cloudy and faintly oily in scent, it is a lukewarm yet deeply enveloping water with the steady, unpretentious character of a craftsman.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
Undissociated boric acid with antibacterial action that keeps the skin surface clean.
Above 10 mg classifies the spring as an "iodine spring" — a rare type that delivers antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action through the skin.
A "beauty spring" that gently emulsifies dead skin cells, leaving skin smooth after bathing.
Salinity comparable to seawater. The salt film traps heat for outstanding warmth ("hot bath spring").
Salt forms a thin film on the skin, retaining heat after bathing. Helps with poor circulation.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
At 34.2°C the source is lukewarm and highly concentrated; a long, slow soak keeps you warm. Oil and salt linger on the skin, so rinse lightly if sensitive and drink water often.
With 13.32 g/kg of dissolved solids, this hypertonic chloride water coats the skin in salt for restorative warmth, and its 16.1 mg/kg of iodide is traditionally associated with immune system stimulation.
The oily, salty water may sting eyes or cuts. Beware of dizziness and dehydration on long soaks; those under thyroid treatment should limit exposure. Avoid bathing when unwell or after drinking.
