Shirogane Onsen (Shirogane No. 14, 15, 18 and 19 Mixed)
Analysis UnverifiedShirogane Onsen began in 1950 when drilling in Biei struck scalding water, and the mayor of the day is said to have likened it to precious platinum rising from the earth, giving the spa its name. This source blends four wells, No. 14, 15, 18 and 19, in the national forest of the Shirogane district and supplies inns along the Biei River gorge. In the tub it turns a cloudy yellow-green, first slippery and then slightly squeaky on the skin, and it has long been called the "cane-forgetting spring," suiting those who want to warm to the core beside the sound of the gorge.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Transdermal absorption gently supports skin hydration and muscle relaxation.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The source is hot and mineral-rich, so pour water over yourself before entering, soak for about ten minutes at a time with breaks, and drink water afterward.
Rich in sulfate at 1,569 mg/kg, this water is traditionally associated with relieving pain in stiff joints and muscles, while 588.2 mg/kg of chloride offers restorative warmth on chilly, tiring days.
Mineral-rich and warming, so avoid lightheadedness from long soaks; those with heart or blood-pressure concerns should keep baths short.
