Bankei Onsen National Source No. 2
Analysis UnverifiedNational Source No. 2 of Bankei Onsen wells up along the Osaru River gorge in the Okutoya spa area, alongside neighboring Kitayuzawa Onsen. Reaching 82.7°C, this source reaches the tubs with only water added to adjust the temperature, and its minerals crystallize white around the spouts. The clear, light water warms the body to the core and leaves the skin smooth, suiting those who wish to steep quietly in a simple mountain bath to the sound of the river and birdsong.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
Because this very hot source is only cooled with added water, some tubs can run hot. Pour water over yourself first, start with three to five minutes, rest between soaks, and drink water after bathing.
Containing 331.7 mg/kg of sulfate, this spring is traditionally associated with helping relieve pain. Its 234.1 mg/kg of chloride wraps the skin in restorative warmth, suiting days of stiff shoulders or back and moments when a chilled body needs slow warming.
Mind the high water temperature and avoid lightheadedness from long soaks; those with heart or blood-pressure concerns should keep baths short.
