Sarugawa Onsen
Analysis UnverifiedSarugawa Onsen has long been known as a cold spring seeping naturally from the left bank of the Saru River in a national forest, with piping to the baths beginning in 1973. As the natural flow dwindled, an 80-meter well was drilled in 1997 and now feeds the baths. The pH 9.4 alkaline water carries a faint hint of sulfur and leaves skin feeling smooth, suiting skiers and campers who want to unwind in the Hidaka hills.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The pH 9.4 alkaline water softens the skin's surface, so soak gently without scrubbing, and moisturize afterward if your skin tends to dry out.
Its pH 9.4 alkalinity and 2.9 mg/kg of hydrosulfide are traditionally associated with silky skin, and after a day of hiking or skiing the gentle water may support deep relaxation.
Because it contains sulfur, those with sensitive skin should avoid long soaks. People in acute illness or with serious heart conditions should refrain or consult a doctor.
