Kurume Onsen
Analysis UnverifiedKurume Onsen rises in Yunosaka, on the eastern edge of Kurume overlooking the Chikugo Plain, where drilling in the late Showa era struck a spring that flows by its own pressure. It still gushes 94 liters a minute at over 50°C without pumps. The alkaline water carries a faint scent of sulfur and leaves a squeaky-clean, smooth feel, an unpretentious beauty bath right on the city's doorstep.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
Mild antibacterial action keeps the skin clean. Trace transdermal absorption supports tooth and bone health.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
At pH 9.5 the water softens old skin cells, so skip hard scrubbing and simply stroke your skin in the bath. Moisturize soon after, and since the source exceeds 50°C, keep hot-tub soaks short and linger in the cooler pools.
Its pH 9.5 alkalinity and 53 mg/kg of carbonate soften the skin's surface for silky skin, while the sulfur compounds are traditionally associated with immune system stimulation.
The source exceeds 50°C, so avoid long soaks in hot pools and drink water often. Alkaline water strips sebum, so dry skin needs moisturizing. Those in acute illness or with serious heart or respiratory conditions should consult a doctor.
