Amami Onsen No. N-4
Analysis UnverifiedSaid to have flowed since the Nanboku-cho period, this Amami spring is remembered in the tale of a "paradise bath" that soothed pilgrims bound for Mount Koya. Light in dissolved minerals, it is a radioactive spring carrying radon and a touch of free carbon dioxide. It suits travelers who trace the old Koya Kaido road and want a quiet soak by a clear stream.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A rare radioactive spring where trace radiation absorbed via inhalation and skin is expected to stimulate cells (the "hormesis effect").
Absorbed through the skin to gently promote peripheral circulation.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The 15.3°C source is heated before use. Radon is said to be taken in through the steam you breathe, so soak slowly in the warm water and breathe deeply.
With radon at 30.2 Mache/kg, this radioactive spring is traditionally associated with relieving pain, and the trace radon is said to gently stir the body in a way that may support immune system stimulation.
The cold source is heated for bathing. People with general contraindications should refrain, and drink water after long soaks to avoid fatigue.
