Sanso Kannawaen
Analysis UnverifiedKannawa has long been known as a healing retreat for the wounded, and this hillside source rises on its own as near-boiling 98.1°C water. Rich in sodium and calcium with a balance of chloride and sulfate, the faintly milky water leaves white, scale-like deposits along the tub edges. With 220.0 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, it leaves skin moist and soft, suiting anyone who wants to warm up slowly while gazing over Beppu's rising steam.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The source emerges at 98.1°C, so areas near the inlet can be very hot; rinse first, settle into a cooler spot away from the spout, and take breaks, as chloride water warms you quickly.
With 437.0 mg/kg of chloride and 372.0 mg/kg of sulfate, this water is traditionally valued for restorative warmth, as its salts help hold heat in the skin, and its gentle sulfate character may support relief from everyday aches and pain.
The very hot source can scald near the inlet, and long soaks may cause dizziness. People in acute illness or with serious heart conditions should refrain or consult a doctor.
