Karabuki No. 1, 2 and 4 Mixed Spring
Analysis UnverifiedDrawn from the Karabuki area high on the Tazawako Plateau, where white fumarole steam rises from the mountainside, this water combines three wells. It is light in dissolved minerals and gentle on the skin, yet rich in hydrogen sulfide, so it turns milky in the bath, with drifting mineral flakes and a boiled-egg aroma. The weakly acidic water feels crisp and refreshing, a true mountain spring to enjoy while gazing at the plateau's beech forest.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
The source of the distinctive sulfur smell. Dilates blood vessels via skin and inhalation to strongly boost circulation.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Absorbed through the skin to gently promote peripheral circulation.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
Remove silver jewelry because of the hydrogen sulfide; the weakly acidic water can sting sensitive skin, so a light fresh-water rinse afterward is advisable.
With 22.7 mg/kg of free hydrogen sulfide, this sulfur spring is traditionally associated with immune system stimulation, and its mild overall mineral load makes it an easy introduction to balneotherapy.
Because the water contains hydrogen sulfide, avoid long soaks in poorly ventilated spaces.
