Yufuin Tsukanoma no Yu
Analysis UnverifiedNear the foot of Mount Yufu, this spring bursts unaided from almost 500 m down at close to boiling. Clear as it emerges, it shifts to pale and milky blue in air and light. Salty and alkaline, it clings slipperily to the skin, and its saline film holds warmth long after bathing.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The source is 97.4°C, so check the temperature and keep away from the inlet. Chloride water warms you fast, so short soaks suffice; at pH 8.6 it lifts oils, so moisturize afterward.
With 413.0 mg/kg chloride, the salty water forms a thin film that seals in heat for restorative warmth, while pH 8.6 alkalinity and 156.0 mg/kg metasilicic acid help leave silky skin.
The 97.4°C source can scald near inlets and pipes. It warms strongly, so avoid long soaks, skip bathing when unwell or after alcohol, and stay hydrated.
