Makukawa No.5 Source
Analysis UnverifiedMakukawa No.5 Source gushes naturally within the national forest of the Azuma range, beside the Makukawa mountain stream at around 1,300 meters. Clear when it emerges, the sulfur water clouds to a milky white as it meets the air, with flakes of yunohana drifting through it. Steeping amid its strong sulfur aroma and the sound of the stream offers a wild, remote-spring experience for lovers of characterful mountain baths.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
The source of the distinctive sulfur smell. Dilates blood vessels via skin and inhalation to strongly boost circulation.
Absorbed through the skin to gently promote peripheral circulation.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
Because the water contains hydrogen sulfide, keep soaks to about ten minutes with breaks, even outdoors. Remove silver and metal accessories, which may tarnish, and check the temperature, as the source emerges at 53.2°C.
Holding 11.9 mg/kg of free hydrogen sulfide and 3.3 mg/kg of hydrosulfide ion, this sulfur water is traditionally associated with immune system stimulation in toji culture. Its neutral pH 6.5 and 83.7 mg/kg of metasilicic acid may also leave silky skin after bathing.
As the water contains hydrogen sulfide, mind ventilation and leave the bath at once if you feel unwell. Those with sensitive skin may rinse with fresh water afterward.
