Owakudani Onsen (No. 2 & 3 Line Blend)
Analysis VerifiedThis unique created hot spring utilizes the fumaroles of Owakudani, which were formed by volcanic activity approximately 3000 years ago. In the early Showa period, Hakone Onsen Kyokyu Co., Ltd. developed this source to supply hot water to areas like Sengokuhara and Gora. The water, created by mixing volcanic gas and water, offers a distinct, tingling, and tightening sensation upon contact with the skin. The powerful energy from the earth delivers restorative warmth deep into the body, a warmth that lingers long after your bath. It is ideal for those seeking deep relaxation and rejuvenation, wishing to refresh their mind and body.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
The aroma typical of sulfur springs, with circulatory and antibacterial effects.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
This is a very strong acidic spring with a pH of 2.1. If you have weak or sensitive skin, avoid long baths and rinse off with a shower afterward. Be careful not to get it in your eyes, and remove any jewelry before bathing.
With a pH of 2.1, this is one of Japan's most acidic springs, and its sterilizing properties have long been used for balneotherapy, especially for skin conditions. Rich in sulfate and chloride ions, it may also relieve pain and provides restorative warmth. Containing 157 mg/kg of metasilicic acid, it also supports those seeking silky skin, offering a complex therapeutic experience.
Due to its high acidity, caution is advised for those with sensitive skin or mucous membranes. It may worsen conditions like atopic dermatitis or xeroderma. Not suitable for drinking.
