Motonoyu (Hanashiki Kyoyusen)
Analysis UnverifiedMotonoyu is the shared source of Hanashiki Onsen, welling up beside the confluence of the Shirasuna and Nagasasazawa rivers and managed by the local Iriyama Hanashiki property association. Legend says Minamoto no Yoritomo named the spa after mountain flowers reflected on the water, like a carpet of blossoms. The clear water carries a faint hint of sulfur, soothes the skin and lets warmth linger long after bathing, ideal for unhurried soaks to the sound of the mountain stream.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.

- Feel
- Tastes salty; the warmth lasts after you get out.
- Said to
- Salt is said to form a film on the skin that keeps in heat and moisture. Bathing indications include cuts, poor circulation and dry skin.
- Note
- May sting cuts. Strong salty water can tire you—avoid long soaks.
- Sulfate488 mg/kg
- Feel

- Note
- Older people and those with high blood pressure or heart conditions should avoid baths of 42°C or more. Keep soaks short.
Effects are general descriptions based on the Ministry of the Environment’s indications by spring type, not a guarantee.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
At around 43°C the water is hot, so pour some over yourself first and keep soaks to about ten minutes with breaks. Afterward, pat dry lightly rather than rinsing to keep the lasting warmth.
With 488 mg/kg of sulfate and 188 mg/kg of chloride at 43.0°C, this spring is traditionally associated with helping to relieve pain in stiff muscles and joints, while its chloride content may support restorative warmth after a chilly mountain walk.
The water is hot at around 43°C, so avoid long soaks; elderly bathers and those with heart or blood pressure concerns should keep baths short.
