Kowakien Kyokyu Onsen
Analysis VerifiedThe Kowakien Kyokyu Onsen is a steam-generated spring developed since 1949 to supply the Hakone Kowakien resort area. It utilizes geothermal heat from former fumarolic activity along the Kurumazawa stream, a tributary of the Jakotsu River, blending multiple sources and natural spring water. This source is widely distributed to the various facilities of the Hakone Kowakien resort, operated by Fujita Kanko, forming the foundation of the entire resort.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
As the source temperature is high, facilities adjust it for comfortable bathing. Start by splashing water on your limbs to acclimate your body. Avoid long soaks; aim for 10-15 minute intervals with breaks in between for a relaxing experience.
With a neutral pH of 7.4, this spring offers a gentle bathing experience. The 364 mg/kg of chloride ions form a thin veil on the skin, preventing moisture loss and providing excellent restorative warmth. Additionally, a high metasilicic acid content of 121 mg/kg, known for promoting silky skin, helps to support skin turnover.
Avoid bathing during active illness, extreme exhaustion, or if you have severe heart or kidney disease. Refrain from bathing immediately after meals or after consuming alcohol.
