Tsurumaki Onsen (Hadano No. 12)
Analysis VerifiedTsurumaki Onsen's history began in 1889 when local well water, unsuitable for drinking or irrigation, was repurposed for bathing. [8] Gushing from deep within the Tanzawa Mountains, this source is classified as a non-volcanic spring and is known nationwide for its rare, calcium-rich composition. [14] Following the opening of the Odakyu Line in the early Showa era, it rapidly developed as an accessible retreat from Tokyo, attracting numerous visitors for therapeutic stays. [14, 22]
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
This weakly alkaline chloride spring helps prevent post-bath chills as salt adheres to the skin, retaining warmth. For lasting moisture, avoid rinsing off after your bath. Refrain from prolonged soaking and remember to stay hydrated.
With a pH of 7.7, this spring contains 160.5 mg/kg of calcium ions and 539.0 mg/kg of chloride ions. A "salt veil" envelops the body, preventing chills, making it ideal for those with poor circulation. It's also beneficial for cuts and dry skin, offering relief on days your skin needs extra care.
Avoid bathing during active phases of illness or if you have severe heart or kidney disease. Bathing after consuming alcohol is dangerous and should be avoided. Remember to hydrate before and after your bath.
