Analysis VerifiedHakone Yumoto Onsen, the historic gateway to Hakone Onsenkyo, opened in the Nara period and flourished as the foremost of the 'Hakone Nanayu' (Seven Hot Springs of Hakone) during the Edo period. This particular hot spring vein, a pillar of the region's heritage, offers thick, soft waters that gently envelop the skin, promoting deep relaxation for both mind and body. After bathing, the wonderfully smooth skin feel provides a comforting embrace, inviting guests to forget daily hustle and bustle and indulge in self-care.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
This alkaline simple spring with a pH of 8.8 is often called a "skin-beautifying spring" for its expected effect of softening the skin's keratin. As the temperature is slightly high at 48.4°C, avoid long soaks and start with a 3 to 10-minute bath to acclimate your body. After bathing, it's best not to rinse off the minerals.
Characterized by its high alkalinity with a pH of 8.8, this spring is said to gently remove old skin cells, leaving the skin smooth. The pleasant 48.4°C temperature warms the body to its core, promoting blood circulation. Containing sodium (144 mg/kg) and chloride (126 mg/kg) ions, it also helps retain body heat after bathing.
Avoid bathing if you have active tuberculosis, malignant tumors, severe heart disease, or other progressive illnesses. Caution is also advised during early and late pregnancy. Entering hot springs suddenly can cause dizziness, so acclimate your body to the water slowly.
