Ukihabekan Shinshiyo
Analysis VerifiedAmagase Onsen is one of Bungo's three great hot springs, alongside Beppu and Yufuin. The Ukihabekan Shinshiyo source is drawn via a 150-meter deep powered drill from a hillside site. With over 1,300 years of history, Amagase's waters were mentioned in the ancient "Bungo Fudoki" chronicles and have long been cherished for therapeutic bathing. This source combines pH 8.9 alkalinity with sulfur properties, gently removing old skin cells for a smooth feel. You can enjoy a silky skin sensation after bathing, perfect for those seeking to refresh mind and body.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A natural moisturizer also used in skincare lotions. Forms a thin veil on the skin to reduce moisture loss after bathing.
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The pH 8.9 alkaline water softens skin, so limit each dip to 10-15 minutes to avoid over-cleansing. The sulfur content provides a gentle, refreshing feel. Due to the high temperature, acclimate your body with ample "kakeyu" (warm-up water) before entering.
With a pH of 8.9 and a high metasilicic acid content of 166.0 mg/kg, this onsen is perfect for achieving silky skin. As a sulfur spring, it is also traditionally associated with immune system stimulation, supporting wellness from within. It gently removes old skin cells, leaving your skin feeling moist and smooth.
Due to its high alkalinity, those with sensitive skin should avoid prolonged bathing. The source temperature is a very high 79.7°C, so always check the bath temperature before entering.
