Hakone no Yu Kamon
Analysis VerifiedHakone Yumoto Onsen's history is said to date back to the Nara period, making it Hakone's oldest hot spring village. [2, 4] The Hakone no Yu Kamon source is a private spring drilled in this historic land. This sodium/calcium-chloride/sulfate spring follows in the tradition of famous waters once presented to the Shogun's family during the Edo period. [10] Its waters gently envelop the skin, providing a characteristic warmth that lingers long after bathing. It is recommended for those seeking to release mind and body in historic, nature-rich Hakone.
The bar length shows how abundant each component is compared to thresholds that make it "distinctive" (therapeutic spring standards, beauty spring criteria, etc.).
A trace component with gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
Scores are calculated from mineral analysis data based on the Mineral Spring Analysis Guidelines (Ministry of Environment, Japan). They are unrelated to facility atmosphere or service quality.
▸Note
The temperature, pH and component values shown here are based on the hot spring analysis (source). Actual values in the bath may differ depending on heating, dilution, recycling and filtration. Please check current usage status at the facility.
The source is a hot 64.6°C, so acclimate your body away from the water inlet. As a chloride spring with high heat retention, it prevents chills. Avoid long soaks; instead, take breaks. After bathing, a light rinse is sufficient.
Chloride (971 mg/kg) and sulfate (564 mg/kg) ions create a veil on the skin, preventing moisture evaporation after bathing. This provides lasting restorative warmth and invites deep relaxation. The gentle, weakly alkaline pH of 8.48 also makes it suitable for balneotherapy, traditionally associated with relieving pain.
Due to the high temperature, avoid long or sudden soaks and be cautious of dizziness. Refrain from bathing after drinking alcohol, as it is particularly dangerous. It is wise to avoid bathing if you are unwell.
